Academic Standards

The curriculum is designed by the Diocese of Corpus Christi and meets or exceeds the State Board of Education standards.  All teachers at St. Elizabeth School have attended and participated in S.T.R.E.A.M. training.  S.T.R.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics and is a project-based initiative.  S.T.R.E.A.M. was introduced to SES by the Diocese of Corpus Christi and is the answer to today's changing world by developing 21st-century learners.  Our students are being educated and prepared for the fastest-growing jobs in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics realms.  This initiative is a way to change the way we teach, learn, and interact with each other to better serve our students' academic needs and their future.

Apart from our rigorous core content areas (religion, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies), SES offers the following extra programs for students:

Technology (K3 - 6th)

Library (K3 - 6th)

Music (K3 - 3rd)

Choir (5th - 6th grade)

S.T.R.E.A.M. enrichment classes

STANDARDIZED TESTING

Standardized testing (ITBS and CogAT) is used as part of the evaluation process in grades 1-6.  They provide a basis for educational guidance and measure the effectiveness of curriculum, teaching procedures, and student achievement.  The tests are administered according to the policies of the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
